Bug fixing is very important at the during development and after release. When you update your software often this fixes bugs in your software!


•My Experience



Working with Graphic Designers - Given wireframe, customer can’t really visualise it, graphic designer starts design work in photoshop, customer starts changing how it works, back to graphic designer (waste of graphic designers time = money)







A good prototype wireframe would prevent this. With graphic design and software development – it is never as easy as you’d think to move elements or change functionality slightly. It is much easier to do it with a wireframe.

Impact of Gaming

“Call of Duty” aka “COD” is a world renowned video game that has a generation of gamers glued to their x-box controllers. With the recently released “Black opps” edition a lot of media and press have been circling around its success and impact. One impact I found extremely interesting was in an article I read online. It focuses around the story and material of the missions and states that the content of the game is reigniting the cold war tensions and gained the attention of the ever threatening Cuban government, due to one mission entailing the attempted assassination of Fidel Castro.

It also focuses largely on the conspiracies within the American government, the ever touchy Vietnam situation and the comic ending of Fidel Castro, JFK and Nixon working together to fight off a never ending horde of zombies.

The extremely graphic torturing scenes throughout the entire campaign and shift relations forming between Russia and Cuba all add up to the ever ready people just waiting for something to outrage them. The portrayal of Russians as crazed mad men wanting to take over the world never ceases to please the war hungry generation I have grown up in.

The game takes scenes from some of the most infamous and influential movies of all time like apocalypse now and deer hunter. One mission is based in Vietnam and you are on a gunship blowing up anyone and everything that moves, whilst sympathy for the devil by the rolling stones was blaring in the background, similar to an infamous scene in apocalypse now. One mission starts off with your character, Mason, being captured and forced to partake in a game called Russian roulette which originated from the movie “Deer Hunter”. Also from cold war thrillers like "The Manchurian Candidate" and "Dr. Strangelove."

Danger’s of Gaming Addiction

Shawn Woolley was a 21 year old man who struggled with learning disabilities and significant emotional problems. His mother was extremely proud of him because he had managed to move out of her house and get himself a job, his mother tried her best to make sure everything was working for him, yet it was not enough.

On Thanksgiving 2001 Shawn was found dead sitting at his computer, he had shot himself in the head. His mother is convinced it was all down to a computer game he played called “Everquest”.

“That damn game. He shot himself because of the game”

Says his mother, Liz, she continues to blame Sony for creating such an addictive game. She admits he might have had other problems, yet she is adamant that the game was what pushed him over the edge.

Susan Spencer reports.

“He couldn’t stay off it. That’s how strong that game is. You can’t just get up and walk away,” she says. In the end, she says, the game became his life.

Then when Susan said to Shawn that the people in the computer game weren’t real, it was like she had betrayed him, that he wasn’t angry but hurt that such a thing could be said.

Sony online CEO says it is impossible to come to a conclusion that a video game cause a 21 yr old man to commit suicide. Sony CEO continued to say

It’s entertainment. Is a book dangerous? Is a TV show dangerous? I think the answer is no. People need to take responsibility and say, ‘Hey, you know, this is too much. Enough’s enough.’ It’s a game.”

Liz, his mother still is convinced it is a dangerous game and wants to sue Sony or at least she wants Sony to include a warning label, saying that “Everquest” is a risk to some people. Sony CEO cannot ignore anymore that “Everquest” is a danger to some of the population. There has been a website established called “Everquest Widows” were people who feel they have lost their partners to the game.

Sony hasn’t gone as far as to put a label on the games cover, yet after the interview he had an alarm clock feature installed which allows for the players to set their own limits.

Misfits!

The eagerly anticipated new season of misfits started with a bang! It seemed they were in a bit of a rush to get nathan out of his coffin because within the first 5 minutes he was out being as rude and hillarious as ever.

The focus of the episode was around simon and his stalker.. and interesting turn of events becuase of all the characters in misfits simon would have been the least likely to have a creepy obssessed stalker. the introduction of the shapeshifting stalker was excellent it brought alot of tension and excitement to the plot and of course, as always a bucket load of comedy. The return of the mysterious and all seeing caped crusader leaves us eagerly anticapting the next episode because with the sneak-peak at next weeks episode we see the introduction of nathans long lost and unkown to him brother!!
